An ancient City has been discovered in the mountains but no one dares venture there without having mapped the place… Here is finally a mission for you, Archaeologist with implacable logic.

ArcheOlogic is a competitive deduction game whose goal is to map a City hidden in the mountains using the Archeoscope, a sophisticated research instrument. Think carefully about the questions you are going to ask, some will make you waste more time than others, set it by turning its cogs, note the precious answers and replace, correctly and first, the Buildings on the Plan to win the part.

Who among you will find the plan of the City first?

• Principle of the game •

Your goal is to be the first to find the exact location of the City’s Buildings, as the picture here shows.

Buildings are represented by polyominoes. Their place and their orientation will be taken into account.

To help you, you have at your disposal the Archeoscope, an instrument capable of reading the coded cards left by the Ancients. These cards contain all the information needed to map the City.

Ask your questions to the Archeoscope and write down the precious clues… But be careful, questioning the Archeoscope will take you time, especially since the question is complex.

Be smart, ask the right questions and use your sense of deduction to replace Buildings as quickly as possible.

The City Plan at the end of the game

• Game Turn •

It’s yellow’s turn to play.

In ArcheOlogic, you do not play in a specific order. It is your turn to play when your pawn is in the last position on the Time track of the central board.

Determine the question you want to ask the Archeoscope and move your pawn forward on the Time track as many positions as the total cost of the question.

Note that the axis on which you ask your question changes at each new round automatically; you move the Time token forward one step clockwise. You can decide to pay more time to change this axis.

The Archeoscope is a research tool that decrypts encoded cards.

Ask the Archeoscope the right questions

You can ask a question about:

  • Buildings (how many cells of the square are there on axis 3?)
  • Traps (what are the traps present on axis A?)
  • Empty Zones (how much empty zones are there on the C axis?).

Set the Archeoscope by turning its cogs to the chosen question, take the coded card, place it below and read the answer given.

As the game progresses, and depending on the answers collected, replace the Buildings on your Map.

I think I found it!

If, at the beginning of your turn, you think you have found the exact layout of the Buildings on the Map, move your Time token forward 4 positions.

Check your answer on the online application OR on the rulebook. If correct, you have won! If you failed and are playing with the app, continue as normal. If you play with the rulebook, you are immediately eliminated.
